I start off every morning with a breakfast smoothie. During and on my quest to become healthy, I realized I wasn’t taking in nearly enough fruits or veggies. I might have had an apple today and I give credit to working at a spa for that one; there’s an endless supply of apples there. It’s amazing. An apple a day keeps the doctor away, right? Wrong.
To lazy to make my own smoothies, I stared drinking pre-made smoothies from Boathouse Farms or Naked. They may claim to be super healthy and what-not but, long story short, they aren’t. Don’t trust the ones at Panera either, just don’t. I came to the sad conclusion that I would have to make myself smoothies everyday. What a chore.
We already had a Nutri-Bullet at my house which is a mini blender that can turn just about anything into a smoothie. It’s honestly the bees-knees that 10/10 would recommend to a friend. This little blender was the perfect thing to get me started on my daily smoothie. You blend the smoothie right in the drinking cup so it is perfect to take the cup off and drink right from it.
I took to Pinterest to get some smoothie recipes and have found some really good ones, and some really weird ones (avocado and egg yolk, yuck!!). So I decided to share my favorites every Sunday.
The first smoothie I’ve decided to share is great for the summer time. I call it my Summertime Sunrise Smoothie. So here’s what you need (and notice I don’t really measure anything at all when it comes to smoothies):
2-3 fresh strawberries sliced
A few cantaloupe squares
A handful of pineapple chunks
1 sliced banana
Almond milk, or water, or milk, etc… any liquid basically (I personally prefer the almond milk)
If you’re like me and like nice, cold smoothies feel free to add some ice chunks or even frozen fruit. It also doesn’t hurt to make iced cubes of whatever liquid you prefer to have in your smoothies.
I hope you enjoyed this smoothie and feel free to check back every Sunday for a favorite smoothie recipe of mine.
Hannah
